Please explain why you are interested and qualified for the office you are seeking:

I am currently the Director at Large with AVIR. I have also been a member of the education committee for the last two years. In the last year, I have seen the growth in the association and support the path that the AVIR is headed. I would like to continue the growth in membership and increase the benefits, focused heavily on education and networking opportunities for the members. I believe I would be a good fit for this position because I am dedicated and enthusiastic about providing educational opportunities for interventional technologists and I want to help the members of AVIR to grow beside each other and create a space where we can all learn from one another. Outside of AVIR, I have a strong connection and passion for global health. I would like to see AVIR grow not only nationally, but globally as well to become a more culturally diverse association.

Please explain why you are interested and qualified for the office you are seeking:

I am interested in taking my participation in AVIR to the next level. I believe now is the right time to become more involved, as some of my other volunteer duties have run their course. I feel the role for Director at Large would be a good fit for me. I have been responsible for applying for every credit for our Southeastern Wisconsin Chapter for the last 11 years, as well as in the preceding 2 years, as we were transitioning into new leadership. I have extensive experience in Interventional Radiology working in both private practice and academic hospitals. I have been excited about the learning and growth opportunities AVIR has offered technologists ever since Dennis Bair introduced this organization to me, a new IR tech, learning and eager to take on all the challenges of a fast paced academic center in 1998. I want to continue to foster education, innovation, professional growth, and networking through this organization. I would like to see AVIR to continue to generate excitement for it’s learning opportunities. I would like to see more Angio Club meetings. I think it would be great to have BOD updates delivered at Chapter meetings to increase member involvement and awareness. I am hopeful for the opportunity to work with a group of individuals who promote the education of Cardiovascular/Interventional Radiology as a specialty which I have been so fortunate to be apart of. Thank you for your consideration.

Please explain why you are interested and qualified for the office you are seeking:

I would be honored to have this role and I would enjoy it as it fits with some of the things I have been working on in the last 10 years. During this time I have been advocating for safe working conditions and radiation protection for physicians, nurses and technologists. I have spoken at many medical meetings and in hundreds of hospitals across the country and around the world educating staff on radiation safety and protection. On a daily basis I work with dozens of interventional healthcare personnel and have close relationships with decision makers in both large and small organizations and facilities nationwide. I work closely with the Health Physics Society and regularly approach Congress to change radiation protection laws and standards in favor of safer environments for physicians, nurses and technologists. I work with Women as One to promote equality in the interventional space and I would be an effective liaison working to educate and advocate for all nurses and technologists in the interventional space. My international and intercultural experience in interventional cardiology, radiology and vascular surgery and with nurses and technologists make me an excellent candidate for physician liaison and I look forward to working with your team!
