[DJR-136 1.0 CE] Society of Interventional Radiology Position Statement on Endovascular Intervention for Trauma

Traumatic injury continues to play a major role in mortality. Injury is the leading cause of death for people younger than 45 years of age in the United States and worldwide, accounting for approximately 10% of deaths globally per year (1,2). During the past decade, mortality rates have continued to improve, in part because of improved medical management in the acute setting. Factors contributing to this improvement include better integration of multidisciplinary care, faster access to advanced imaging and interventions, and increasing expertise at level I and secondary-level trauma centers.
